Here at Bright Starts, we provide children with an environment that is safe, loving, welcoming, and fun. From head counts to cameras, entry and exit check in and out procedures, equipment checks, and area layout we work tirelessly to keep every child safe, all day, every day. We know that sending your child to a safe space allows for peace of mind so that you can go about your day stress-free knowing that they are free from hazards. Daycare access is restricted and only authorized individuals with proper identification may enter our doors. In addition, our daycare always operates with an adult certified in CPR/ First Aid.

Always Watching

Our camera system allows an additional level of security by monitoring our entry/ exit points, playgrounds, and outside areas. We believe in active supervision and surveillance to ensure the safety of our children.

Sleeping Safely

During nap time, we dim our lights and offer white noise as an option to help children feel comfortable and safe while napping. All classroom leaders practice listening and active supervision skills throughout nap time, regularly checking on children. Observation is key in ensuring safety for our children. Children are given age-appropriate bedding and napping areas. Children are welcome to bring in a lovey or stuffed animal, and a blanket to help them soothe during this time.

Keeping them Safe

Classrooms follow the New York State mandated ratio size of students to adults. Our small group sizes allow us to ensure that your children are given the proper attention, observation, and care. For young children, diaper changing occurs at regular intervals. Classrooms are always tidy and organized to ensure that there are no choking hazards.

Playground and Toys

Our staff follows a daily cleaning schedule and checklist for inside and outside areas. This plan includes disinfecting toys and inspecting them for any small broken piece, or loose parts. We are always on the look-out for choking hazards. All of our playground areas are surrounded by secure fences, and a safely designed play area insures for minimal injuries.

Health and Cleanliness

The flu, stomach bug, common colds, COVID, and the list of viral and bacterial contagions run rapid. At Bright Starts we practice hand washing as a preventative for germ-spreading. Students regularly wash hands for the appropriate amount of time. Classroom leaders monitor children for signs of illness. We immediately notify parents or guardians if their child is unwell. We practice state mandated protocols for sickness. Classrooms are regularly disinfected with child-safe products.

Food Safety

During meal and snack times, all children are supervised by a trained CPR staff member. We ensure that students stay seated and keep an eye out for potential choaking hazards. Please visit our Menu tab for more information regarding upcoming meals.
