Play-Based Learning
Guided- play allows for the joy of free play so that children can connect on a deeper analytical level with the content. When children co-construct their learning with their teachers and peers, they are able to apply it to their own lives and experiences. In doing so, they construct more meaningful and personal discoveries. This allows them to further and more successfully progress towards their personalized learning goals.
Discovery-Based Learning
Psychologist Jerome Bruner leads us into the inquiry- based age of instruction where students build on past experiences and knowledge while tapping into their creative and intuitive skills to solve new problems. As children learn through discovery, they are able to observe correlations between their actions and outcomes therefore creating an environment of question asking and answer seeking.

Promoting Positive Behavior
We know that our children can sometimes exhibit challenging behaviors. These behaviors come in the form of aggression, hurtful words, defiance, or fits. This happens as a result of unlearned social, emotional, language, and/or cognitive skills. Children need strategies for how to handle the many emotions that they experience throughout the day. At Bright Starts, we believe that challenging behaviors are learning opportunities. We utilize the PAX Good Behavior Game intervention when necessary to reward positive behaviors, thus limiting negative ones. We provide our classroom leads with tools, resources, and knowledge regarding Positive Behavior Support. Already have goals set up with your child? Let us know at sign up so that we may assist you by focusing on them during the day!
